Camp Rock -- er, Leadership
Day 1
by brunette
The bus drove smoothly along the faded highway. Mountains loomed ahead, dark and mysterious in the pale morning light. Kristen smiled excitedly while stuffing sour jellybeans into her mouth. She and her eighth grade class were jammed into the old schoolbus, on their way to a 5-day camp in Mount Pali. According to the flyers and teachers, it was some sort of "leadership camp." Whatever it meant, Kristen was nearly bouncing with excitement. Of course, she wasn't really bouncing because choking on a jellybean did not sound like a fun way to start her field trip.
"Hey, can I have one?" Next to Kristen sat her friend Jessie, who was looking eagerly at the jellybeans. Without waiting for a reply, Jessie stuck her hand into the box and popped a grape-flavored bean into her mouth.
"I'm so excited," Jessie said between chews.
"Me too," Kristen said, grinning. "So can you believe it about Meg being emo?"
Jessie spat out her jellybean, hitting the back of a guy's head in the seat in front of her. "No!" Jessie exclaimed. "I mean, she seemed so...normal before. I can't imagine her being emo. Shows what you don't know about people."
"Mmhmm," Kristen mumbled absentmindedly. She was focused on a tall boy a few seats away from her. His name was Bill. Kristen had liked him up until a while ago, when he started acting differently. Now he was completely different, and she didn't even recognize him.
A kick to the back of her seat jolted Kristen away from her thoughts. She turned around to see her other friend Mandy in the row behind her.
"Looking for someone?" Mandy asked teasingly.
Kristen rolled her eyes. She had told Mandy about liking Bill, and now Mandy wouldn't let her forget it.
Mandy smiled knowingly and went back to reading Twilight for the seventy-third time.
In spite of her mild annoyance, Kristen smiled. This was going to be a fun week.
So that's it so far.....I have some more but I'll save it for the next post! Hope you liked ittttttttttttttttttttttttttt :)
