Spotlight

Hey Blonde!

I am sitting at the computer, "emailing" (aka secretly blogging), wearing an oversized USA jacket, enormous blue sweatpants (very OLD sweatpants) with doodles all over them (a result of being bored when I should be doing schoolwork). My mouth is tingly because I had extra-carbonated soda earlier. Oh yes, and I am wearing a santa hat. Normal for anyone else? Probably not. Normal for me? Yeah. XP

Today is Thursday which means.....well, it doesn't mean anything except that YESTERDAY was Biola! Which means that my group and I performed our play! Which means that I actually have something to write about!

So I woke up yesterday morning at five fifty, rushed to finish a rough draft of an essay (writing it the morning it's due? Yeah. Procrastinate is my middle name.), straighten my hair, get dressed in my lovely mean-girl costume which consisted of: White shirt, black undershirt, black skirt, white leggings, black flats, and a black-and-white striped scarf. Oh yes, I also had my evil black nail polish on (not because I'm eMO, because my character is eVIL.) Then my family and I rushed out the door, while I was breathless and carrying a bulletin board, my backpack, and a stuffed turtle.

Finally got to Biola, walked ever-so-gracefully inside (well, as gracefully as possible considering I was carrying the listed items above), met Taylor outside of the room we were going to perform in, and after going through our positions and setting up props, my group (Taylor, Felicity, Phillip, and I) watched the other group (Paige, Keira, Nate, and Gina) perform their play, a condensed version of Rumpelstitskin. I don't like that story to begin with, but their version was slightly different than the orginal, so it was fine. However, it didn't seem like they were prepared at all....they read from their scripts and even with the words in front of them they forgot their lines a few times. But it was cute. As I was watching their play, I was getting more and more butterflies in my stomach (I later learned that my whole group was feeling like that while they were watching it!). Then, finally, it was our turn to go up. We did a quick check to make sure all of the hidden props were in their proper places, and I quickly whispered to Taylor that I was making a last minute change as to what my character, the evil queen/Miss Popular Victoria, would throw at the Narrator. I realized that the script would call for me to throw an actual cell phone at Taylor, the narrator, and of course I wouldn't want to hit her with a phone (with my aim, it probably wouldn't matter anyway, but still.....). So I changed it so that instead of throwing the phone I would throw a nail filer. Less potential to hurt someone! We then raced to our positions (Phillip backstage, Taylor at the podium/narrator's stand, and Felicity and I waiting at the far right of the stage), and we began our performance of Cream Puff High (no, not like you're high on cream puffs -- it's the name of the highschool that our story is set in). And you know what? It actually went very well! We made the audience laugh when we wanted to, and I don't think anyone forgot their lines. My nervousness vanished the minute I got onstage, which was a miracle in itself. We didn't have microphones, so we had to speak loudly so that the audience could hear. I was pretty worried about that -- whenever I am in front of a large audience, my voice shakes. It's extremely embarrassing and it makes me blush even harder, but during the play it didn't happen at all! I was completely at ease (another miracle/impossibility). It was a great performance, and afterward people who I didn't even know would tell us how funny our play was. Kind of a good feeling hahahahaha :) But actually it was all thanks to the amazing Felicity; she wrote the entire script (which was hilarious! I don't think we did it justice with our acting), and knows a ton about acting. We were definitely blessed to have her in our group!

So then, after that, I had the rest of the day, which was mainly uneventful. Oh, funny story.... In history class, Mrs. Carlson was like, "Okay, everyone get our your syllabuses. Or, wait, would it be syllabi?" And I said, "I think it's syllabi...cuz like you would say octopi instead of octopuses." And then Sam is like, "I always wondered what the plural form of mongoose is." And I'm like, "Mongoose?!" And he's like, "Yeah, is it mongoose or mongeese or mongooses or mongi?" And then he just keeps talking about it and I want to tell him to shut up cuz it's just such a random topic, but everyone was laughing so I didn't say anything. Hahahaha, it's so weird how there are such strange, random discussions in my classes.....maybe that's why it can be fun to go to Biola -- at least you are entertained!

Hahahahahahaha well that is my post! Sorry, it's pretty long and descriptive....I actually had another post ready (about one of my "feelings"), but I thought this was more, uh, normal. Maybe I will publish the feelings post some other time.......

Love, Brunette :)
